The Yanshuei Beehive Fireworks Festival in the south of Taiwan is the third largest folk celebration in the world. A parade of palanquins circling the city, setting off thousands of rockets that create a deafening bee-like buzzing sound. This ‘baptism of fireworks’ is supposed to ward off troubles and bring good fortune for the year. At the tail end of the New Year celebrations, the skies around Taiwan are filled with brightly coloured lanterns, fireworks and firecrackers to mark the annual Lantern Festival.

After breakfast, embark on a half day guided tour of Valletta, Malta’s capital built by the Knights of the Order of St. John. We’ll visit the Barracca Gardens that command a breathtaking panorama of the Grand Harbour and tour the magnificent St Johns’s Co-Cathedral including the Caravaggio masterpieces in the Oratory.

Here you’ll find awe inspiring prehistoric temples dating back over 6,000 years predating both the Pyramids of Egypt and Stonehenge. The fossil-studded cliffs house a history of remarkable intensity surrounded by some of the worlds most stunning beachside settlements. Hall, National Palace Museum where 5,000 years of Chinese Imperial arts and jade collections are exhibited, Martyrs’ Shrine of traditional architecture and Taipei Handicraft Center.
We’ll drive along the Guia Circuit and see the golden statue of Kun Lam, the Goddess of Mercy before stopping at the 15th century Taoist A-Ma Temple dedicated to the Chinese Sea Goddess. Legend has it that Portuguese sailors named the enclave A-Ma-Gao to thank her for saving their ship in a storm. We continue to Macau Tower, ascending to its Observation Deck for panoramic views of the Macau cityscape, China, the Pearl River and even some islands of Hong Kong on a clear day. After lunch, we’ll visit the intricately carved stone façade that is all that remains of St. Paul’s. Then, we’ll walk through the historic Senado Square towards Monte Fort, the former residence of governors and bastion against attempted invasions. Our final stop today will be to hedge your bets at one of Macau’s top casinos before returning to Hong Kong by ferry.

Later this afternoon, visit Arenal Volcano National Park, where your guide takes you on a walk through lava trails of the volcano and shows you how nature has found a way to recover from past lava flows. Next, enjoy a walking tour of the town of La Fortuna de San Carlos, offering spectacular views of the active Arenal Volcano. This evening, drive to nearby famous Tabacon Hot Springs for a dip in the curative and relaxing pools. A local Naturalist accompanies you on a leisurely Boat Ride along remote, unspoiled sections of the park’s waterways, explaining the bountiful flora and fauna.
Leave Morocco’s magical city of Marrakesh for the journey back to Casablanca. In the afternoon, see the sights in the company of a Local Guide. The best choice today is an included excursion to Rissani to see the Mausoleum Of Moulay Ali Sharif, the first ruler of the Alaouite Dynasty. At leisure in ancient Fez, which occupies a position of outstanding scenic beauty.

Stroll around the monastery on a walking tour and learn more about Buddhism as you explore this sacred place. Taste a Buddhist vegetarian lunch , chat with some of the monks and discover the towering Buddha Statue in the Main Shrine. Later, travel by coach to Kaohsiung - the second largest city in the country and visit the Love River and a local Night Market. Enjoy the drive through the eastern slopes of the Atlas Mountains and arrive at the Tinerhir oasis with its green valley of palms and local villages. Arrive in the film capital of Morocco, Ouarzazate, where you’ll visit the Kasbah De Taourirt, the intricate but fascinating residence of Pasha Thami el Glaoui. Today’s excursion brings you to mysterious, prehistoric Stonehenge.
